Mr Wilbert Menkveld has a BSc. degree in Chemical engineering from Saxion University, Enschede and a MSc. degree in Environmental Technology and Urban Environmental Management from Wageningen University & Research Center. He has more than 20 years of experience in design, engineering and optimisation of industrial waste water and biomass plants in different industries.
He worked from 2002 until 2013 as senior industrial wastewater expert and manager industrial water and biomass treatment at Witteveen+Bos Consulting Engineers in the Netherlands, He designed and optimised (industrial) waste water and sludge treatment processes for many industries. Furthermore he is a specialist in the field of polishing of WWTP effluent and is one of the inventors of the 1-STEP® filter for the combined removal of nitrogen, phosphorus and bulk of micro pollutants in one discontinuous filter.
Since May 2013 he works as Manager Research & Development at Nijhuis Industries in the Netherlands where he developed together with his team several new concepts to realise the value of waste and wastewater, like:
• AECOMIXTM - digestion of organic waste and waste water in one reactor towards biogas and clean water
• Intelligent DAF – high rate energy efficient concrete DAF for carbon harvesting from wastewater
• AECO-FAT - recovery of fats from wastewater as biofuel
• AECO-NAR - ammonium recovery from manure, centrate and digestate
• GENIUS – manure separation towards concentrated fertilizer and clean water
