Part I: Keynote conference resilient cities, utilities and industries
‘Water... and nine billion people’ is the theme of the Amsterdam International Water Week Conference. In the plenary Keynote, also the kick-off to the Leaders Forum programme, we will explore how to achieve a safe, clean and sustainable water future in high-density living areas. Cities, industry and utilities have key roles to play on this path. These three perspectives will be represented in this session by inspiring keynote speakers. From their own point of view, they will share developments in their respective fields in becoming more circular and resilient.

Mr Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam, will present the policy of the city of Rotterdam in becoming more resilient and how the city is adapting to climate change. Mr Zulkifli Masagos, Minister of Environment and Water Resources in Singapore, presents Singapore’s policy on these issues. Mr Snehal Desai, Global Director Sustainable Business Blueprints & Strategies, DOW Chemical Company, presents the industry perspective while Mr. Michael Beckereit, CEO of Hamburg Wasser, represents the vision of water utilities.
